Uganda Humanist Schools Trust

2022 Appeal for the Humanist Schools

The Humanist Schools are working hard to provide high standards of education and welfare for children from poor rural communities in Uganda. They are committed to providing inclusive education based on reason, compassion and tolerance.

However, they are facing extraordinary challenges. Family incomes are depressed and savings have been exhausted by the prolonged Covid lockdown in Uganda. They are being further squeezed by high world food and energy inflation caused by the war in Ukraine. Many parents have fallen into substantial arrears with their children’s school fees and schools are struggling to pay teachers and meet the costs of school meals.

UHST is seeking help from existing and new supporters to provide:

  • immediate relief to help the schools through to the end of the year;
  • essential infrastructure work in the new primary schools;
  • monthly payment commitments, to enable UHST to send regular monthly sums to the schools to help with running costs in their difficult first years.

In order to better support the Humanist schools we need to involve more people.

If you know of other individuals or groups of  people who might be willing to help the we would be pleased if you would forward them a link to this appeal.
